HSBC's global research department recently released a report that predicts the ranking of world economies forty years from now. According to the researchers, the top thirty economies in 2050 will be:

4) Japan
5) Germany
6) UK
7) Brazil
8) Mexico
9) France
10) Canada
11) Italy
12) Turkey
13) S. Korea
14) Spain
15) Russia
16) Philippines
17) Indonesia
18) Australia
19) Argentina
20) Egypt
21) Malaysia
22) Saudi Arabia
23) Thailand
24) Netherlands
25) Poland

HSBC did add one caveat to the analysis stating, "…we assume governments build on their recent progress and remain solely focused on increasing the living standards for their populations. Of course, this maybe an overly glossy way of viewing the world."
